Timaru is located 160 kilometres south of Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand. The city has a large port which services a wide agricultural hinterland. Close to the Southern Alps, and coastal in location, it enjoys the best of all outdoor landscapes. With a population of 28,000, Timaru has all major facilities while maintaining a country feel.
Timaru is linked to Oamaru and Dunedin to the south, and by State Highway 8 to Twizel, Lake Tekapo, Aoraki/Mount Cook and Queenstown.
