Mountainview High School encourages all students to develop their Leadership potential. Leadership is fostered in sporting and cultural arenas, most formally on the Student Executive Council. Students are encouraged to voice opinions, ideas and concerns with the view to improving all aspects of the school environment and community. Each Whanau selects student captains who contribute to the general well being and organisation of other students.
