The school’s modern Music Suite comprises a large teaching room with computer sound, editing and mixing resources, flanked by a series of individual practice and rehearsal rooms.
The school is well known in the district for the excellence of its Jazz Band which performs at most major school events, the local Mayoral reception and numerous significant functions in the district.
Bi - annually the band tours the South Island, playing at other schools on their chosen route.
Students may also take part in rock bands, the string group, the Jazz Combo, School Orchestra, or perform individually.
Individual instrumental tuition is available as part of the Itinerant Music Scheme.
