Upon arrival at the school, students are placed into a Whanau or House. The houses often compete in a variety of competitions for house points, in an effort to be awarded the Preens Shield at the annual Prize Giving. Points are awarded for both winning or participating in particular events.
Activities which gather points include the annual Swimming and Athletic sports, Whanau challenges, the Fun Run and Year 9 Orientation activities.
