This exciting programme is available for year 11-13 students who have a strong career focus and are work ready. Students learn new work related skills in a wide variety of work places with training feeding into higher level qualifications like apprenticeships and National Certificates within the industry. The school has very strong industry links with students’ staircasing directly into the work environment and working towards industry credits which are recognised by the National Qulaifications Framework.
Mountainview High School has 40 Gateway Placements.
- Gateway provides long term structured workplace learning.
- An individual learning plan specifically developed for each student which includes industry based unit standards that contribute towards NCEA.
- Students work in industry one day a week over a minimum of two terms.
- Students gain valuable work experience and career information.
- Students gain confidence which leads to a smoother transition into the workplace.
Gateway students have been placed in a wide variety of industries. Examples include Equine, Dairying, Early Childhood, Telecommunications, Hospitality, Sport and Recreation, Retail, Electrical, Tourism , Automotive and Construction.
